Man, teen stole gun, police say
SCRANTON - A Moosic man and a Scranton teen face charges after police said they broke into a vehicle, stole a handgun and tried to flee from officers Friday night.
City police Lt. Joseph Arbie said Francis Fletcher, 20, and a 16-year-old boy stole a Glock 23 .40-caliber handgun from a car in the 1600 block of Parkhurst Place, then fled when they saw police. Police apprehended them in the 1500 block of Manila Place about 7:40 p.m.
Both were charged with conspiracy to commit theft and other charges.
The boy, who police said was a repeat offender, was also charged with resisting arrest and was taken to a juvenile detention center, Lt. Arbie said. Mr. Fletcher was in custody awaiting arraignment Friday night.
