South Side Neighborhood Watch President Andrea Wharton has good Halloween memories from when she was a kid.
To give children today those same memories, she and the rest of the watch will host a Halloween festival Oct. 28 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Connors Park. If it rains, the event will be at the South Side Seniors Center at the same date and time.
The free event will feature crafts, games, goody bags, a parade around the park and awards for the scariest and funniest costume.
"Looking back when we were kids, we would have events," Mrs. Wharton said. "We're getting back to neighbors getting together and enjoying a social event."
