SCRANTON - A man who Scranton police said assaulted a man while burglarized a city home was apprehended by police in New Jersey on Tuesday.
Amir Whitehurst, 31, was picked up by Essex police on a stolen vehicle charge, Scranton police Lt. Joseph Arbie said. Mr. Whitehurst will be extradited back to Lackawanna County .
Police said Mr. Whitehurst broke in to 1036 Breck St. on Monday and hit Richard Estevez in the head with a bottle.
He faces aggravated assault, burglary, criminal trespass, reckless endangerment and simple assault charges in Scranton.
