A Waymart man accused of running a woman over with his truck surrendered to police, saying he did not want to live his life "on the run."
James Bannon, 31, 1285 Roosevelt Highway, saw his photo posted on the borough police Facebook page and made the decision to turn himself in on Wednesday, Dickson City Police Chief William Bilinski said.
On Sunday, Mr. Bannon became angry when he saw who had dropped off Kimberly Walsh from an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting on Washington Court near Rear 437 Morgan St., Dickson City, and an argument ensued, police said.
Ms. Walsh turned to walk away, but Mr. Bannon beeped his horn and started to back up, so she grabbed the passenger side door and Mr. Bannon took off with her still attached to it.
Ms. Walsh suffered a broken pelvic bone, four broken ribs and multiple cuts and abrasions, and will need surgery, police said.
Police charged Mr. Bannon with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving and careless driving. He is in Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for June 12.
