TAYLOR - The Riverside School Board will choose a new superintendent at Monday night's meeting, after discussing the two finalists in an executive session before a public meeting Thursday.

The vote comes after a public question and answer session May 30 with the prospective superintendents, Paul Brennan and John Rushefski.

"We had discussions and deliberations tonight. And we'll vote on it Monday," board President Robert Bennie said. "We have two great candidates."

Mr. Rushefski is the principal of Lackawanna Trail High School and Mr. Brennan is the principal at Riverside Elementary West.

Both men have their superintendent certificates. One of the main qualifications the board was looking for in its new leader was a professional education background, Mr. Bennie said.

The school board received nine applications for the position and interviewed four before narrowing the field to Mr. Brennan and Mr. Rushefski.

The board accepted outgoing school leader David Woods' resignation at a meeting in April, after he accepted the superintendent position in the Oxford Area School District in Chester County.

Riverside School Board is slated to meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the high school library.
