John Reck was thirsty.
After breaking down the door of neighbor Frank Krupovich's Lake Twp. home and punching his way inside, Mr. Reck sat down in the kitchen and drank two Natural Ice beers, police said. Before he left, Mr. Reck stole Mr. Krupovich's .22 revolver, $40 in cash, his cellphone and the keys to his car and Rosengrant Road home.
Mr. Reck, 33, also of Rosengrant Road, was arrested without incident Thursday in Port Jervis, N.Y., state Trooper Connie Devens said.
Mr. Krupovich did not call police until May 18, as he did not have his cellphone and was in too much pain from being beaten. State police said there was severe bruising on the left side of his head, including his eye, lip and cheek. His right eye was also bloodshot from the May 17 assault, state police said.
Mr. Reck is charged with burglary, robbery, theft, simple assault, criminal trespass, receiving stolen property, recklessly endangering another person and criminal mischief.
Information on Mr. Reck's bail and his preliminary hearing was not available Thursday.
