SCRANTON - A man has agreed to plead guilty to helping transport illegal immigrants from a Philadelphia employment agency to work at a Scranton meat product business.
Kerin Hamim, no age or address listed, was charged in March with harboring illegal immigrants. Authorities say Mr. Hamim helped transport illegal immigrants recruited by a temporary employment agency in Philadelphia to work at Pasqualichio Brothers, 115 Franklin Ave., Scranton.
According to court papers, Mr. Hamim, who is also an illegal immigrant, drove workers from Philadelphia to Scranton from September 2012 to March 2013. He also assisted the temporary agency and Pasqualichio Brothers by paying the illegal immigrants in cash.
Mr. Hamim signed a deal with the U.S. attorney's office on Tuesday that calls for him to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to transport illegal immigrants. A date for him to enter the plea has not been set.
