THROOP - The organization of the borough's fire companies could be changing.
Borough council moved Tuesday to appoint Fire Chief Eric Hartshorn as the acting chief when his term concludes at the end of the month. He will maintain the acting chief position until the ordinance that created the position is "reviewed and acted upon" by council.
"The goal is to have a more cooperative fire environment, especially at the fire scene," council President Thomas Lukasewicz said after the meeting.
In other business, the council approved a resolution authorizing the disposal of approved borough records, including payroll forms. The documents will be shredded Saturday at the Borough Building, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is also open to borough residents wishing to shred documents.
