Incubator opens

The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce opened its Jessup business startup incubator, TekRidge Center, at a cost of $8.3 million. The 45,349-square-foot building can be divided and customized for as many as 10 tenants.

Beer distributor goes CNG

Beer distributor LT Verrastro Inc. received a $217,399 state grant to build a compressed natural gas filling station at its headquarters in Old Forge. The station will be the first in Lackawanna County.

Dow Jones closes at 15,000

Dow Jones closed above 15,000 for the first time last week, a milestone in the index's 15 percent climb since Jan. 1, The Associated Press reported.

28 jobs to be cut

Frontier Communications in Dallas Twp. will cut 28 jobs by the end June as part of an effort to consolidate operations.

Americans cut back on credit

Consumer borrowing rose just $8 billion in March from February to a seasonally adjusted $2.81 trillion, The Associated Press reported, the smallest increase in eight months.

Cyber theft nets $45 million

A bloodless bank heist that nabbed more than $45 million has cybercrime experts shaking their heads at the technical sophistication. The hackers broke into computer records at credit card processing companies and raised the limit on prepaid debit cards kept in reserves at two large banks. They then stole account numbers. Seven people were arrested and the thefts happened in 27 countries around the world.
