Property acquired
An affiliate of Equilibrium Equities Inc. of Blue Bell has acquired the former Ocean Logistics property in Keystone Industrial Park from an affiliate of C&S Wholesale Grocers Inc. for an undisclosed sum. The property is a highly functional industrial building of 249,000 square feet on 22 acres in Dunmore.
Donation tops record: At $92,000, Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary's annual donation to the hospital set a record. It was presented at the volunteer appreciation luncheon. The proceeds represent the work of more than 200 auxiliary members who raise money through the Other Shop, the Other Shop II, the hospital Gift Box store and annual fundraisers. The bulk of the money will benefit the hospital's New Beginnings' Birthing Suites and the remainder will be donated to Wayne Woodlands Manor.
Lab opens: Princeton Analytical Laboratories LLC announced the opening of its new laboratory at the Northeast Forensics Center in Dunmore. It will provide analytical testing services to a range of clients from environmental to consumer products to food and beverage.
College graded: The Commonwealth Medical College has received a score of "A" from the American Medical Student Association for its policies regarding conflict of interest.
Firm opens: Ark Commercial Real Estate, the only Ph.D.-led commercial brokerage firm, recently opened to serve commercial clients in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Bradford, Susquehanna, Monroe and Wyoming counties. Located in Scranton, the firm provides commercial real estate services to buyers, sellers, tenants and investors for industrial, land, office, retail and land properties. Additionally, president Ellen Raineri, Ph.D., specializes in the Marcellus Shale gas industry.

Bank donates: The Wells Fargo Foundation awarded a $30,000 grant to Misericordia University for the 2013-14 academic year in support of the Wells Fargo Foundation Scholarship Fund that benefits eligible undergraduate students at Misericordia.
Fundraiser for troops: Saw Creek Estates in Bushkill is organizing "Project Shoebox," a fundraising effort to gather donations of basic toiletries, nonperishable food and other supplies to send to U.S. troops in Afghanistan. Items collected will be placed in shoeboxes and addressed to individual soldiers.
Anniversary celebration: Employees from Trane, HVAC systems company, helped to celebrated its 100th anniversary by spending the day framing a new home in Wilkes-Barre with other Wyoming Valley Habitat for Humanity volunteers.
Network enhanced: Verizon Wireless recently activated new 4G LTE coverage in Lackawanna, Monroe, Luzerne, Wyoming and Wayne counties, further expanding the company's high-speed wireless data network coverage. The expansion provides increased wireless voice and 4G LTE data coverage in Blair Hill, East Benton, White Haven, Effort, Brodheadsville, Saylorsburg, Dresser Hill, Damascus, Pocono Peak and Factoryville.
