Two veteran Friendship House executives are overseeing the nonprofit organization after the resignation of longtime president Robert H. Angeloni.

Mr. Angeloni, who served as president for more than 18 years, stepped down to enjoy time with his family, Friendship House said in announcing his departure.

Executive vice presidents Christine Gilroy and Patrick Ackourey are jointly administering Friendship House's day-to-day operations.

Efforts to reach Mr. Angeloni were unsuccessful.

Ms. Gilroy and Mr. Ackourey said Mr. Angeloni is still working with Friendship House in a consulting role.

Mr. Angeloni's resignation comes as Friendship House struggles through what Ms. Gilroy acknowledged is a challenging time for the organization and many other nonprofits.

Friendship House shut down its treatment facility on East Elm Street in the East Mountain section earlier this year and placed the 9.5-acre site up for sale for $1.9 million.

Ms. Gilroy said there is a sale pending, although she could not discuss details.
