The downtown streets, quiet and empty aside from scattered trash, gives the impression Saturday was just another day in Scranton.
But for those who attended "The Office" Wrap Party on Saturday, the memories - and souvenirs - should last a lifetime, co-coordinator Timothy L. Holmes said.
"It was spectacular," said Mr. Holmes, regional director of marketing for Times-Shamrock Communications, which was one of the party's sponsors and also owns The Times-Tribune. "The sheer volume of people that attended was amazing, and they were from all over the world, even Brazil."
One day after 14 cast and crew from "The Office" visited Scranton, Mr. Holmes estimated about 30,000 people attended at least one of the day's events - from the Bloggers' Breakfast at the University of Scranton to the Farewell Celebration at PNC Field.
Though he said it's difficult to pinpoint, Mr. Holmes said about 20,000 people were stationed along the parade route, waiting for the beloved cast and crew to ride by in convertibles.
In ticket sales alone, organizers raised more than $100,000, he said. Mr. Holmes said a final number will be announced later this week, though the majority will go toward paying the event's costs and police overtime.
Whatever is left - he said probably a "few thousand" - will go to St. Joseph's Center.
Despite the heavy volume of people traveling in downtown Scranton, Mr. Holmes said organizers were able to keep areas relatively clean by "starting the cleanup process" right after an event ended.
"The only thing left over this morning was the staging area at the courthouse, and Mohegan Sun officials took that down by 9 a.m.," Mr. Holmes said.
City Department of Public Works Director Mark Dougher said workers haven't had to clean much, as garbage had been thrown into bags and placed along the side of the road.
The city's garbage trucks will pick up the bags this morning, he said. "It wasn't like any other parade because there wasn't beer involved," Mr. Dougher said.
Scranton acting Police Chief Carl Graziano said there were "no incidents or arrests" during the Wrap Party on Saturday.
He said about 16 officers were stationed throughout the downtown area, stretching from the Radisson at Lackawanna Station Hotel to Lackawanna County Courthouse Square.
"It went very well," he said.
