Meet Lucas Musetti
School: Honesdale High School
Parents: Paul and Michelle Musetti
Plans: To attend Colgate University as an Alumni Memorial Scholar with a possible major in international relations
While he has focused on excelling in his academics, senior Lucas Musetti still finds time to volunteer in his community.
Lucas, who has been at the top of his class for every marking period throughout high school, is in National Honor Society, is a National Merit Scholar finalist, was captain of the Scholastic Scrimmage team and has participated in the NEIU reading competition and Science Olympiad.
But perhaps his proudest accomplishment was being elected treasurer of student council.
"I really felt like my friends and classmates trusted me to do the job well and that in a way meant more than something that was given to me by someone in a higher position of authority," Lucas said.
Outside of the classroom, Lucas helped with the National Honor Society's blood drives and served with Communities That Care as one of two student board members. The goal of CTC is to promote positive development in youth as well as help them avoid destructive decisions.
"I knew that I was helping the community when the blood was going to people who needed it," Lucas said. "And the children in the CTC programs had a safe place to go after school to do homework and have fun."
Lucas plans to take what he has learned with him to college and in his future endeavors. He said he wants to pursue a career that will help him make a significant change in the world.
