SCRANTON - Officials rescheduled a preliminary hearing for a local police chief charged last month with two counts related to intimidating a witness and one count of obstructing justice.
Scott Twp. Police Chief James Romano, 42, 127 Chapman Lake Road, Scott Twp., was slated to appear in court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing on the charges stemming from allegations that he had a sexual relationship with a 20-year-old witness in another case in which he was involved.
But Chief Romano's hearing was rescheduled to May 24 after the prosecution requested a continuance so it could arrange to get all the witnesses there, according to a spokesman from the state attorney general's office.
