Amanda DeSantis, a residential counselor in the behavioral health division, completed Lackawanna County's 40-hour training program to become a member of the Crisis Intervention Team. The program was implemented to provide education and sensitivity training to police officers who respond to crisis calls after Scranton police responded with deadly force to a crisis call that involved a woman with schizophrenia.
EOTC of Northeastern Pennsylvania
The EOTC will present the Mighty Oak Awards. The honorees include Damian A. Braga, president, Sanofi Pasteur U.S., and senior vice president, Commercial Operations, Sanofi Pasteur; Joanne Aronsohn Monahan, the Milrice Foundation; and Teresa Ross Cognetti, EOTC Resource Development Coordinator. A special Mighty Oak Award will be presented to Mrs. Monahan in honor of her late husband, Fergus T. Monahan, D.S.W., a founding member of EOTC.

Forest City Personal Care Facility
Mia Crotti, N.H.A., is the new administrator of the Forest City Personal Care Facility. Ms. Crotti has a Bachelor of Science in Health Science, with a concentration in health and wellness management from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. She also has a master of health administration from the University of Scranton. Ms. Crotti obtained her certification as a National Health Administrator and Personal Care Home Administrator. She lives in Jessup.

Kim Hendry has joined the Fusion Hair Design team as a stylist. Ms. Hendry has more than 15 years of experience in the salon industry. Ms. Hendry, a Scranton resident, is a graduate of the Empire Beauty School and West Scranton High School.

John T. Cognetti, president, has been named a 2012 CoStar Power Broker by CoStar Group Inc. This annual award recognizes distinguished professionals in commercial real estate brokerage by highlighting the achievements of the U.S. firms and individual brokers who closed the highest transaction volumes in commercial property sales or leases in 2012 in their respective markets.
Joseph DeScipio Architecture
The company's NEPA Center for Independent Living office building project was awarded "Favorite Architecture Project of 2012" by the Mid Atlantic Real Estate Journal. Joseph DeScipio, a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University, established DeScipio Architecture 22 years ago. It is based in Elmhurst.

Terrie Morgan-Besecker joined as staff writer for The Times-Tribune. She will cover federal court. Mrs. Morgan-Besecker has 24 years in journalism and many state awards. Previously, she was an investigative reporter with The Times Leader in Wilkes-Barre. She graduated from Meyers High School and the University of New Mexico, from which she received a degree in psychology. She lives in Hanover Twp. with her husband, Harry, and daughter, Alison.
Kyle Wind joined as staff writer for The Times-Tribune. He will cover Dunmore, North Pocono and transportation issues. Mr. Wind has 5½ years in journalism, spent mostly covering education at The Daily Freeman in Kingston, N.Y. He graduated from Tunkhannock Area High School and Temple University, from which he received degrees in journalism and political science. He lives Clarks Summit.
United Way of Pike County
Patrick Kiesendahl will be the new president. Mr. Kiesendahl is an alumnus of Wallenpaupack Area High School and St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, where he earned degrees in business management and theater. Mr. Kiesendahl is the social director and a co-owner of the Woodloch Pines Resort in Hawley.

Volunteer Coordinator Joyce Malicky has assumed a top state post, president of the Pennsylvania Society of Directors of Volunteer Services in Healthcare. This 121-member group is dedicated to volunteer resource management, education and advocacy at 107 institutions around the state.

Paul Story has been named community bank district manager for Wells Fargo's Scranton/Pike district, which includes 11 offices in Lackawanna, Pike, Wayne and Wyoming counties. He is responsible for managing Wells Fargo's retail business, ensuring that local goals are met for a wide variety of criteria, including customer service, governance, ethics, business development and community involvement. Mr. Story is a graduate of Shippensburg University with a dual degree in political science and economics.
