SCRANTON - A city woman faces assault charges for striking her boyfriend's teenage son, city police said.
Kristy Kakareka, 32, 1143 Eynon St., was charged with simple assault and harassment when police arrived at her home at 11:48 p.m. Sunday.
The father, Todd Lazuka, told police that Ms. Kakareka hit his son in the mouth during an argument. Ms. Kakareka said the son hit her as well, but she did not have any visible injuries. The son, however, had a small cut on his bottom lip, though photographs were not taken because of the size of the injury, police said.
Ms. Kakareka is in Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday.
