Purse Palooza to Wine Pull
A mini-fashion show featuring the hottest spring designs, the original Wine Pull, and a Purse Palooza silent auction followed by an exclusive high-end designer handbag live auction were featured when the Greater Scranton Commerce Women's Network presented its latest Ladies' Night at the Country Club.
Kate McDermott and Mari Potis of the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce were among the attendees, as were Meredith Chimock, TD Bank; Amy Ghirelli and Karen Rumford, Portofino Salon; and Paula Mackarey, Happenings Magazine.
Glen Oak Country Club of the Abingtons provided the setting.

Freshmen business administration majors Kristen Bazink of Mayfield and Brandon Jackson of Sturges were among a group of 27 Susquehanna University Enactus members who were named regional champions in the U.S. Regional Competition in Baltimore. The team will compete at the Enactus U.S. National Exposition in Kansas City, May 21-23. Kristen, a 2012 graduate of Lakeland High School, is the daughter of Joseph Bazink Jr. and Lynne Bazink. Brandon, 2012 graduate of Valley View High School, is the son of Alan and Marion Jackson. ... Katlyn M. Jumper of Duryea was among 185 first-semester freshmen and transfer students recognized by Lebanon Valley College for making an impact on the campus as a new student during the Celebration of Student Success reception. Kaitlyn is a freshman accounting major.
Matthew Grogan has been accepted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Delta Epsilon Iota Academic Honor Society while attending University of Pittsburgh. A freshman majoring in actuarial mathematics with a 4.0 grade point average, Matthew is the grandson of Alice Grogan and the late Thomas Grogan of Dunmore and Jean Harrington and the late Frank Harrington of Scranton. Matthew lives in New Cumberland with his parents, Kathleen and Austin, and his younger brother, Ryan.

Henry Laboranti, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laboranti of Olyphant, has been selected to receive a "2013 Outstanding New Graduate" award by The Pennsylvania State University College of Education's Alumni Society Board of Directors.
This award is given to recent graduates of Penn State who have distinguished themselves in their new professions and is based on the individual's advancement and excellence in their job. Henry is an enrollment specialist and instructor for Lackawanna College, Towanda Campus. He will be honored at an awards ceremony in October at University Park. The grandson of Mr. and Mrs. George Senich of Scranton, and the late Robert and Florence Laboranti of Olyphant, Henry is a 2006 graduate of Mid Valley High School, and a 2010 graduate of Penn State University.
