Meet Brent Christy

School: Tunkhannock Area High School

Parents: Theodore and Ellen Christy

Plans: To attend Northeastern University and pursue a degree in electrical engineering

Brent Christy could not imagine a day spent without sports or friends.

The Tunkhannock Area senior played golf, basketball and tennis throughout high school and he could not imagine anything more entertaining.

"I enjoy golfing the most, whether it's playing with my dad or with my friends from school," Brent said. "It's relaxing and always a good time."

But there is far more to this student than his love of sports. He is an academic high achiever and very involved in extracurricular activities.

He said one of his most rewarding experiences in high school has been re-establishing the school's key club with his good friend, Colby Rome. He was initially approached by his school's gifted support teacher to start the club. Brent became vice president of the club.

He also likes to build and create. He crafts kick scooters as a way to earn a little extra money during the summer and on weekends. He plans to take that creative energy to college by majoring in electrical engineering. In 15 years he sees himself at working for a start-up or an engineering company, ideally with two Siberian huskies in either the Boston area or in South Carolina, where he can golf no matter what time of the year it is.

His philosophy on life is simple: strive.

"Never be satisfied with what you have," Brent said. "Always reach for bigger and better things."
