SCOTT TWP. - Lakeland school officials are weighing disciplinary action for an elementary school student who had an airsoft gun on the bus ride home Monday.
Lakeland Superintendent Margaret Billings-Jones, Ed.D., said the child was showing another student something in his backpack while on the bus when another student spotted the airsoft gun and reported it.
The elementary school principal then met with the student.
At no time was anyone in danger, Dr. Billings-Jones said. The Lackawanna County district attorney's office told her the airsoft gun was not a weapon but she said the district needs to follow its disciplinary policies.
