Driver falls asleep, crashes on I-81
SCRANTON - A Wilkes-Barre man suffered minor injuries after falling asleep and crashing his vehicle on Interstate 81 in Scranton early Sunday, police said.
Anthony D. Gordon, 35, was driving on I-81 south near mile-marker 185 at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday when he fell asleep, hit a concrete barrier, crossed the highway and struck a guardrail, state police at Dunmore said.
He was taken to Geisinger Community Medical Center with a minor chest injury, police said, and will be cited for careless driving and a seat belt violation.
