A 28-year-old Laceyville man could face up to 27 years in prison after pleading guilty Friday in Wyoming County Court to rape of a child and sexual abuse of children.
Joshua M. Raymond had been in the county jail since Sept. 5 when he was charged with rape of a child under 13.
The victim said Mr. Raymond made her touch him, and he also started touching her in inappropriate ways. The abuse went on for about a year, court documents said.
The Times-Tribune does not identify victims of sexual assault.
Wyoming County District Attorney Jeff Mitchell said in court Friday that Mr. Raymond also possessed many video depictions of children under 18 engaged in sexual acts.
For rape of a child under 13, President Judge Russell Shurtleff said Mr. Raymond faces a 10-year mandatory minimum sentence and could get as much as 20 years in state prison and a $25,000 fine. For sexual abuse of children, he faces a maximum of seven years in prison and a $15,000 fine.
Judge Shurtleff also said Mr. Raymond would likely be subject to lifetime registration as a sexual offender, but would not schedule sentencing until after the state's Sexual Offender Assessment Board had met.
