Friday's warm weather will be more the norm through the rest of spring, an AccuWeather meteorologist predicted on Friday, but there could still be some chilly days ahead.
"I think we're going to get rid of these Arctic air masses," meteorologist Alex Sosnowski said, "but there will still be some polar air masses originating from the south."
Some cool winds may also still occasionally "sneak in" from the ocean and pushed west, dropping temperatures on some days through the season, the meteorologist added.
Mr. Sosnowski forecasted Friday afternoon's 55 degree weather will be followed up by another sunny day today with temperatures in the region peaking at 50 degrees in the afternoon, then a cloudier Sunday with a chance of brief showers but temperatures of up to 60 degrees.
Monday could be chilly, depending on which way the wind blows a cold front, the meteorologist said.
The National Weather Service in Binghamton issued a red flag warning for Northeast Pennsylvania through Friday evening describing lack of recent rainfall with low humidity as producing "critical fire weather conditions" that can lead to brush fires.
