Man charged with beating girlfriend
SCRANTON - When Scranton police first saw Charlene Peck's bloody nose and swollen right eye, her boyfriend, William Gillette III, told officers it wasn't bruising, it was makeup.
Mr. Gillette, 30, 1626 Church Ave., was charged with one count each of attempted simple assault and harrassment after punching his girlfriend multiple times during an argument at 3 a.m. Tuesday.
Ms. Peck told Patrolman Christian Gowarty that Mr. Gillette had punched her repeatedly during an argument. A warrant check also revealed Mr. Gillette had an active warrant for a domestic assault against Ms. Peck on March 19.
Bail and arraignment information were unavailable.
