JERMYN — After adopting the International Property Maintenance Code (IPMC) to give the borough more enforcement power in tackling blight issues last year, council voted Thursday to adopt a revised, “lite” version of the code.
Calling the IPMC “too big and convoluted” and “not a good fit for the borough,” councilman Dan Markey said the revised code more condensed.
“(It makes it) easier for the lay person to understand what is expected of them of their property,” councilman Kevin Napoli added. “The other one was more geared towards an engineer.”
Council also hired Dom Calzola as a part-time code officer.
