CLARKS SUMMIT — Borough officials recently received land development plans for the site of a vacant restaurant on South State Street.

Representatives of Cherry Hill Partners LLC, the property owner of 900 S. State St., submitted the plans with the borough late last month. A vacant Pizza Hut restaurant stands on the lot now. The plans call for that building to be razed and a building to be constructed on the opposite side of the lot from where that building stands, Borough Manager Virginia Kehoe said.

Records with the Lackawanna County Assessor’s Office show Cherry Hill Partners, a Clarks Summit-based company, bought the property in June for $500,000. A call Friday to the company requesting comment and further details was not returned.

Kehoe told borough council at a meeting Wednesday that unofficial plans for the proposed building calls for retail space on the first floor and a restaurant on the second.

“They’re developing the building and they hope to have those tenants,” Kehoe said at the meeting.

The plans will go before the borough’s planning commission at that body’s next meeting on March 15, Kehoe said. The planning commission reviews plans and makes recommendations to borough council. Council must approve the plans before any construction can start on the project, Kehoe said.
