Kids solve problems
POCONO SUMMIT - Abington Heights, Delaware Valley and other school districts from around the region took some top spots in the Northeast Regional Odyssey of Mind Tournament held in Pocono Summit on Saturday.
The competition that tests students' problem-solving skills was hosted by Pocono Mountain West High School. About 700 students from 40 area schools through the Northeast Pennsylvania region, including Lackawanna, Luzerne, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming counties, participated in the competition that involves students from kindergarten to 12th grade. The competition features several different categories, and students work all year to develop an eight-minute skit - including original costumes, scenery and technical elements - that solves a problem.
