The husband of a Scranton woman killed in a hit-and-run wreck filed notice he intends to sue the driver.
Frank Sawkulich filed a writ of summons against Tiffany Marie Timko of Hazleton for the Feb. 4, 2015 death of Betty Mae Sawkulich, 32, who was struck as she crossed the 700 block of South Main Avenue. A writ of summon advises a person a lawsuit will be filed, but does not contain details of the claims.
Scranton police say Timko, 27, fled the scene after striking Sawkulich, a mother of seven. Timko was arrested three days later after authorities received an anonymous tip she was involved in the incident.
Timko pleaded guilty on Nov. 14 to a misdemeanor count involuntary manslaughter. She is scheduled to be sentenced on April 11.
The writ of summons, filed by attorney Christopher Powell of Scranton, names Timko and Anthony Mope of Hazleton as defendants. The document does not specify Mope’s involvement in the incident.
