Jurors found a Florida man accused of killing a Scranton native guilty early this morning after a trial that lasted nearly six weeks.
David McMannis is the second man convicted in the 2001 murder of 19-year-old Tara Ord Sidarovich. His co-defendant Phillip Barr was convicted of first-degree murder in a jury trial in the fall of 2015.
Sidarovich, who grew up in West Scranton, disappeared from her home in Punta Gorda, Florida, nearly 15 years ago. Her skeletal remains were found in July 2002 in a wooded area in Charlotte County.
At the time of Sidarovich’s disappearance, Barr owned a septic service business and McMannis was an employee. The two allegedly visited Sidarovich’s home on Westwood Drive in Punta Gorda sometime between noon and 1 p.m. on Oct. 1, 2001, on the same day she vanished. She had been home alone.
