Quentin Thomas Novinger, M.D., F.A.A.P., has joined the staff as senior medical director, utilization management.
In this new role, Dr. Novinger will lead BCNEPA's efforts in care cost management and will provide clinical guidance within the organization. Dr. Novinger is a graduate of Bucknell University, Jefferson Medical College and holds an MBA from the University of Massachusetts. He is board certified in pediatrics, and as a practicing pediatrician, advocates for abused and neglected children.

Thomas L. Gaylets has been appointed assistant vice president of the interventional platform at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery. Mr. Gaylets will oversee the Interventional Platform, which consists of surgery, interventional radiology and interventional cardiology. Before joining Einstein, Mr. Gaylets was the administrator/director of the Cardiovascular and Electrophysiology Lab, Heart and Vascular Institute at Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. Mr. Gaylets earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Wilkes University and a Master of Science in health care administration from King's College. He resides in Kingston.

Jon Taylor, vice president and assistant controller, has been named the company's vice president, controller and chief accounting officer, effective May 1. He succeeds Harvey L. Wagner, who has elected to retire. In his new role, Mr. Taylor will have responsibility for the accounting, tax and financial reporting activities of the company and its subsidiaries. Mr. Taylor graduated with a Bachelor of Science and earned a master of accounting from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Andy Boyles, science editor, has been named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Mr. Boyles was recognized for "having introduced millions of children to nature's wonders and the process of science." Mr. Boyles has edited science content for 18 years for Highlights. The Honesdale-area resident earned a liberal arts degree from Penn State University in 1981. Mr. Boyles and his wife, Julia, have two adult sons, Levi of Irvine, Calif., and Seth of Oakland, Calif., and a daughter, Keilah, of Pittsburgh.

Ms. Stracham is a master trainer of the JNL Fusion method. A fitness enthusiast and mother of three, Ms. Stracham founded Live Well, Be Fit in October 2011.
Major League Baseball Team Physician Association
Michael G. Ciccotti, M.D., Philadelphia Phillies' team physician and sports doc panelist, has been elected the 2013 president of Major League Baseball's Team Physician Association. Dr. Ciccotti, chief of sports medicine at the Rothman Institute, succeeds Dr. Charles Bush-Joseph, M.D. Dr. Ciccotti, formerly of Dunmore, is also the head team physician for St. Joseph's University; and orthopaedic consultant for the Philadelphia Eagles/Philadelphia Flyers and U.S. Women's Soccer Team.

Kathleen Scaler Scott, Ph.D., C.C.C.-S.L.P., assistant professor of speech-language pathology at the university, had her second book published, "Managing Cluttering: A Comprehensive Guidebook of Activities'' with David Ward, Ph.D., of the University of Reading, England. Dr. Scaler Scott specializes in child language disorders, literacy, autism spectrum disorders and fluency disorders. Dr. Scaler Scott holds a bachelor's degree from Douglass College/Rutgers University, a master's degree from Emerson College, and a doctoral degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Todd Hastings, M.S., R.N., assistant professor and director of the part-time evening nursing program at Misericordia University, has been appointed to the Luzerne-Wyoming Counties Mental Health and Developmental Services Program board, for a two-year term. Mr. Hastings earned an associate's degree in nursing from Luzerne County Community College and a Bachelor of Arts in nutrition science from Rutgers University. He received his Master of Science in nutrition from Penn State University and his Master of Science in nursing from Wilkes University. He is a registered nurse, who also works as a mental health nurse providing therapeutic services to mental health patients at Saxon Psychiatric Services in West Wyoming. Currently he is pursuing his Ph.D. in nursing education from the University of Phoenix.

Dr. Charles K. Herman, chief medical executive and chairman of surgery at the medical center, received recognition from Rebuilding America's Warriors for his work with the Iraq Star Foundation. Through this foundation, Dr. Herman has joined more than 300 surgeons around the country in providing charitable medical and surgical care to injured American soldiers needing reconstructive plastic surgery.

Dr. Pathak is board certified in internal medicine and pediatrics. She received her Doctorate of Medicine from Mount Sinai Medical School in New York City; and is licensed to practice internal medicine and pediatrics in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Dr. Pathak holds hospital privileges at Newton Medical Center, N.J., and Bon Secours Hospital in Port Jervis, N.Y.; as well as serving as a major in the Air Force Reserve. She recently joined the Air National Guard.
