Downtown traffic light is adjusted
SCRANTON - The green light for Adams Avenue's one-way traffic at Spruce Street was increased Friday from 19 seconds to 52 seconds to prevent vehicle backups on Adams Avenue, state Department of Transportation spokesman James May said.
The work is part of a traffic light/signal improvement project and synchronization involving 50 intersections downtown, Mr. May said. The lights had created a situation in which vehicles leaving the Medallion Parking Garage on Adams Avenue got stuck in rush-hour backups, he said.
The situation now will be monitored and adjusted as necessary, he said.
