SCRANTON - The Lackawanna County sheriff's office is discontinuing the extended evening hours it instituted last month to handle a surge in applications for concealed weapons permits.
Today is the last day the office at the courthouse will stay open until 8 p.m. to issue the permits, Sheriff John Szymanski said.
Individuals who want to apply for permits can still visit the sheriff's office during regular business hours on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
