A Gourmet Gala tropical evening
Carol Chisdak, chairwoman, and Carole Rosencrance, cochairwoman, are meeting with committee chairs to finalize plans for the Ronald McDonald House of Scranton 2013 Gourmet Gala, which will bring more than 50 local eateries to Genetti Manor in Dickson City on April 7.
The annual tasting fundraiser has a theme of Aloha Hawaii this year, and decorations and food will provide a tropical paradise atmosphere.
Committee chairwomen who met with Richard Bradshaw, executive director, at the Ronald McDonald offices in Clarks Summit to finalize event details, distribute posters and mail invitations, include Jan S. Brown, restaurants; Jan Brown, arrangements; Sara J. Levy, hostesses; Michele Margotta Neary, publicity; Lucille O'Boyle, badges; and Elaine Shepard, sponsors.
Event sponsors include First Liberty Bank and Trust, WNEP-TV and Lamar Advertising.
Tanglwoolies help
After the Tanglwoolies presented a check to Hunts for Healing, they were visited by veterans.
The group from the Tanglwood Lakes Community, who knit and crochet to raise money for various charities, presented $420 to the organization based in Laceyville dedicated to helping wounded heroes get back into the mainstream of life by taking them hunting, fishing and to social functions with their peers.
That's when veterans Jim Kille and his dog, Quarterback, and Wilson "Will" Dolph and with his fiancée Ericka, dropped by to say thanks on behalf of Hunts for Healing.
On hand to meet with Jim, Quarterback, Will and Ericka, were Barbara Chervanek, Sandy Gullno, Clemi Hertz, Elmer Hertz, Judy Hildebrandt, Warren Hildebrandt, Llnda Lemos, Rhoda Levine, Rose Kucharski, Ed Levine, Jerry O'Connor, Annie Pagano, Joan Pfeiffer, Bill Pfeiffer, Irene Ross, Tom Ross, Loretta Schofield, Ed Schofield, Janet Sellitti, Vera Simone, Joe Sudol, Pauline Sudol, Barbara Smith and Cliff White.

Members of Council 46 Forest City/Scranton Knights of Lithuania raised that country's flag outside Scranton City Hall in celebration of its day of independence.
