Accused robber waives hearing
SCRANTON - A city man waived his right to a preliminary hearing Friday on charges he robbed a Meadow Avenue bank at gunpoint last week and threatened to kill police officers during a standoff at a Moosic motel.
Accompanied by his public defender, Jamie Dench, Shane Savage, 26, briefly appeared before Magisterial District Judge John P. Pesota to sign the waiver forms.
The case will now head to Lackawanna County Court. He is being held at the county prison in lieu of $400,000 bail.
Mr. Savage robbed Wells Fargo bank on Feb. 13, police said.
