Row office issue challenged again
SCRANTON - Supporters of a ballot initiative to study Lackawanna County's form of government renewed their bid Friday to knock a second referendum - to eliminate four row offices - off the May 21 primary ballot.
The petition filed by Dunmore businessman Chuck Volpe reiterated arguments his attorney, Frank Ruggiero, made at a Feb. 13 hearing.
Under Mr. Volpe's proposal, voters would be asked to approve a commission to study the Home Rule Charter and possibly recommend changes.
The other question would ask voters if they want to amend the charter to eliminate three elected offices. No hearing date was set.
