Scranton police arrested a man who allegedly pulled a gun on a family Sunday night, then fled, and also threatened to harm himself in a text message to an ex-wife.
Michael Kazmierczak was driving his wife and son just before 9 p.m. when he turned onto Davis Street and a red Jeep Grand Cherokee began tailgating him, according to a criminal complaint.
The Jeep passed him in a no-passing lane on the 600 block of Davis Street, then pulled in front of his car. When Mr. Kazmierczak got out of the car, a bald white man weighing about 200 pounds got out of the Jeep and pointed a silver handgun at him and the car. "Get back in the car," he said to Mr. Kazmierczak, then got back into his Jeep and fled, police said.
Authorities found the Jeep was registered to Craig Newbern, 38, 211 Spring St., Moosic, and that a 9 mm pistol and several rounds of ammunition were missing from his home. One of his ex-wives also reported getting a text message that read, "no I am done living," police said.
Police arrested Mr. Newbern on Sunday night and charged him with three counts each of aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.
