Small PPL line to be improved
HARRISBURG - The state Public Utility Commission on Thursday approved a PPL Electric Utilities project to expand and improve service in Monroe County.
The PUC endorsed the Allentown-based utility's siting and construction plan for the Blooming Grove-Jackson and Peckville-Jackson 69-kilovolt transmission line, including eminent domain for right-of-way access across private properties.
The 3.8-mile line in Jackson and Pocono townships will reduce the electrical load on the existing Blooming Grove-Jackson circuit and improve reliability for PPL customers in Jackson, Tobyhanna and Pocono townships, according to PPL.
PPL reported it will spend about $14 million on the project, and construction will continue to June 2014.
