Lien filed against Mellow's home
SCRANTON - Federal prosecutors have filed a $119,906 lien against the Archbald home of imprisoned former state Sen. Robert J. Mellow to ensure payment of his fine and restitution if the home is sold.
Mr. Mellow was sentenced to 16 months in prison and ordered to pay a $40,000 fine, a $100 special assessment and to repay the $79,806 that his use of Senate staffers for political work cost taxpayers.
Mr. Mellow is serving his sentence at a Williamsburg, S.C., federal prison on a conspiracy charge related to use of Senate staff to do political work and filing a false tax return.
