Riverside has coaches, needs director
TAYLOR - Riverside School District will have all its bases covered with coaches next school year but are now on the hunt for an athletic director after Monday night's board meeting.
The school board accepted a retirement from Athletic Director Frank Chisdock at the end of the school year, after almost 25 years of teaching, and later voted to post the position for hire.
Later in the meeting, the board heard a report from Aramark director of food services Donna Gilroy, who said she has been forced to cut a part-time position as well as scale back hours on another position.
She did not specify how much the cuts would save but said the district is trying to make up for the loss of about 24,000 meal sales it is behind compared to the same time last year.
The board also hired a number of coaches for the upcoming school year.
The appointed James Maloney as the assistant junior high track coach for the 2012-2013 school year for a stipend of $1,799.23; John Velehoski, Justin Paroby, Colin Phillips and Ryan Jones as assistant football coaches for the 2013-2014 school year for a stipend of $3,892.82 each; John Fox as freshman football coach for the 2013-2014 school year for a stipend of $3,135.53; Mark Farkaly as the assistant freshman football coach for the 2013-2014 school year for a stipend of $3,135.53; Jamie Williams as the head varsity soccer coach for the 2013-2014 for a stipend of $3,638.47; and Molly McAuliffe as the junior high track coach for the 2013-2014 school year for a stipend of $2,562.26.
