Outgoing thanked; incoming welcomed

Outgoing Co-Presidents Lynn Gavin and Roseann Brutico were recognized and thanked and incoming Co-Presidents Karen Clifford and Lisa Davis were welcomed and installed when St. Joseph's Center Auxiliary conducted its installation brunch at La Buona Vita.

The event also kicked-off the 125th anniversary celebration of St. Joseph's Center.

"During this anniversary year, we are especially mindful of the countless ways that the auxiliary, its leaders and members, have been a blessing to our ministry," said Sister Maryalice Jacquinot, I.H.M., the center's president and CEO. "Their dedication, creativity and hard work have enabled St. Joseph's Center to prosper over all these years and remain committed to our founding mission."

Sister Terry O'Rourke, president of the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Hearty of Mary Congregation, was among the attendees.

Past Presidents Jan Needham and Linda Robeson presented Lynn and Roseann with center residents' artwork as a thank you for their hard work, dedication and commitment.

Other past auxiliary presidents joining in included Carol Burke, Jane Carlonas, Jean Corcoran, Terry Cummings, Nancy Hemmler, Beth Hopkins, Jeanne Kreis McDonald, Marianne Moran, Nancy Neach Murray, Karen Paluszeski and Terry Pidgeon.

Super students

Marie Allen, Brian Dankulich, Jenny Monge and Poonam Patel, are among 29 students who participated in King's College's fall internship program. Marie, of Dunmore, worked with Dempsey Uniform & Linen Suppy Inc. A human resource major, she is the daughter of Ethan and Sharon Allen. Brian, of Duryea, a mass communications major, interned with The Citizens' Voice. Jenny, of Scranton, interned with attorney Tracey Hubbards. She is a senior majoring in political science. Poonam, of Scranton, worked with The Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education. A master's in health care administration student, she is the daughter of Shambhu and Darshana Hirani.

High notes

Bill Ciccotti of Scranton and his friend, Brian McAndrew, of Columbia, Md., checked out a Battle of the Bulge re-enactment in at Fort Indiantown Gap last month. The event, organized by World War II Federation and Battle of the Bulge veterans depicted some of the events following the Dec. 16, 1944, German army counteroffensive attack. Bill's dad, Angelo, fought in the historic battle. "We should never forget the sacrifices of that great generation that fought for freedom. God Bless America," Bill said in an email.
