Board decides on bank loans
SOUTH ABINGTON TWP. - Board members Tuesday determined how they will pay for the rest of the estimated $34 million project to upgrade the wastewater treatment plant.
At an Abington Regional Wastewater Authority special meeting, board members agreed to use bank loans, rather than a bond underwriter, to cover the roughly $24 million remaining. However, the board hasn't accepted a proposal and won't until its February meeting.
In October, the board secured a low-interest, $9.7 million loan through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority. Construction is expected to start in May.
