OVERFIELD TWP. - Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has released her co-ownership of a cottage at Lake Winola, according to a deed recorded in the Wyoming County Courthouse on Tuesday.
The quit claim deed with Mrs. Clinton's signature notarized in Nassau County, N.Y., on Dec. 28, notes that in consideration of $1, she releases her rights to brothers Hugh Edwin Rodham, no address given, and Anthony Dean Rodham of Vienna, Va.
According to the Wyoming County assessor's office, the most recent tax bill in 2012 went to Hugh Edwin Rodham of Coral Gables, Fla.
The cottage was built in 1921 by Mrs. Clinton's grandfather, and according to her 2004 autobiography, "Living History," she spent some time at the cottage each summer during the month of August from 1948 to 1965, when the family's permanent residence was in Chicago.
The property passed from her grandfather to her father, Hugh, and uncle, Willard, and then to Hugh alone.
About three months after her husband, President Bill Clinton, was inaugurated in January 1993, her father died, and the property was left to Mrs. Clinton and her two brothers.
