OLD FORGE - A pair of fires that tore through a gas station in the borough and damaged the attic of a vacant Oak Street home on Wednesday were both ruled accidental on Thursday.

State police spokeswoman Trooper Connie Devens said the fires at the Sunoco at 815 S. Main St. and the home at 206 Oak St. were both ruled accidental by state police Fire Marshal Russell Andress.

The fire on Oak Street began at about 12:30 p.m. after an apparent electrical malfunction in the home's attic, Trooper Devens said. Fire also struck the two-unit apartment home in November.

Just over four hours later, Old Forge and other Downvalley fire crews were called to the Sunoco, where a fire extended from the business garage throughout the structure.

No one was injured in either fire.
