City police said three men attempted to rob a South Side man at gunpoint early this morning then took his cellphone when he dropped it while running from them.

Acting Scranton police Capt. Glen Thomas said the three men approached the 20-year-old victim in the 100 block of South Edwards Court shortly after midnight.

One man took out a gun and asked the victim to hand over everything he had.

The victim ran but dropped his cellphone in the process, which the robbers picked up before fleeing themselves, Capt. Thomas said.

The robbers were described as two black men, one standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall and the other about 5 feet 4 inches tall and both wearing black hooded sweatshirts, blue jeans and black skull caps.

The third robber was described as a 5 feet 7 inch tall white man wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a black skull cap.

Anyone with information is asked to contact city police at 348-4139.
