Bike rider struck, severely injured
SCRANTON - A bike rider was taken to the hospital with a severe head injury when he was struck by a vehicle at 8 a.m. Wednesday.
Acting Scranton police Capt. Glen Thomas said Christopher Mirto, 48, of 1011 E. Gibson St., was riding his bike south on the sidewalk along Madison Avenue when he rode into the road at the Vine Street intersection and was struck by a 2008 Jeep driven by Amanda Roberts, 28, of Duryea.
He was transported to Geisinger Community Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition Wednesday, Capt. Thomas said.
Though the investigation is ongoing, Capt. Thomas said no charges had been filed.
