The next president of Keystone College may soon be on the campus.

As Keystone continues the process of replacing its longtime president, final candidates will be visiting the college in the next few weeks, the college's spokesman said Friday.

Edward G. Boehm Jr., Ed.D., announced in September that he would retire on June 1. Dr. Boehm, who led the college through major growth in his 18 years as its president, will assume emeritus status and focus on fundraising to increase the school's endowment.

The college expects to name a new president by June 1, Keystone spokesman Fran Calpin said.

"An announcement will be made at the appropriate time," he said, declining to elaborate on the candidates.

Thomas Speicher, chairman of the college's board of trustees, said in September that the board's goal was to get someone who could build on all of the positive aspects of the college.

Dr. Boehm is the longest-serving college president in the region and his tenure as president is the longest of Keystone's nine presidents. This year, the college has its largest full-time enrollment, with 1,400 students.
