Smoking sparked Old Forge fire
OLD FORGE - A fire that killed an Old Forge man Friday afternoon was deemed accidental, a state fire marshal's report said.
Carelessly discarded "smoking materials" left in the second-floor bathroom sparked the blaze that killed Joseph Casella, 60, at his 534 Fallon St. home.
Mr. Casella was pronounced dead at Geisinger Community Medical Center. The cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning due to smoke inhalation.
The victim's brother, James Casella, 57, was able to escape from the house and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
