MOOSIC — Gerrity’s Supermarket was evacuated just before 9 p.m. Sunday because of smoke from a small electrical fire.
No one was injured, but a few employees and customers had to leave the store, which is at 4015 Birney Ave.
Moosic Fire Chief Chuck Molinaro said the fire was out upon arrival of first responders. The smoke began in the dairy section and spread to the freezer section, he said.
Employees Brian Winters and Abar Hassan said they were working and saw and smelled white smoke from the dairy case.
No further information was available Sunday.
