Damaged pole leads to outage
SCRANTON - Nearly 500 PPL customers were without power Saturday after a utility pole was damaged.
At 5:15 p.m., reports came into PPL that a pole on Amelia Avenue and Race Street was damaged and wires were down, PPL spokeswoman Teri MacBride said. As a result, 411 customers lost power.
During the course of repairs, power was temporarily shut off for 67 other customers to ensure workers' safety. Power was restored to all customers at 7:11 p.m., Ms. MacBride said.
Scranton police had no information Saturday about how the pole was damaged.
