Waste firm owner facing charges
HONESDALE - A Wayne County man was charged Friday with illegally burning and burying waste by the state attorney general's environmental crimes section.
Attorney General Linda Kelly charged Joseph Bunnell, 50, of Honesdale, with illegal transportation, dumping, burning and storage, deceptive business practices, theft by deception and corrupt organizations.
Mr. Bunnell, owner of Bunnell Waste Removal Inc., obtained thousands of dollars from customers to take their waste to a landfill, when instead he burned and buried it in his Honesdale or Buckingham Twp. property, investigators said.
Mr. Bunnell was arraigned and released on $2,500 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 9.
