SRA challenges order to pay bill
SCRANTON - The Scranton Redevelopment Authority has filed legal notice to appeal a judge's order to pay $119,000 in legal fees to attorney Boyd Hughes, who successfully represented clients in a condemnation case.
On Nov. 16, Lackawanna County Judge Robert Mazzoni ordered the SRA to pay Mr. Hughes $119,000 of the $128,000 in legal fees that he and his firm, Hughes, Nicholls and O'Hara of Dunmore, had billed their clients during their six-year battle against SRA condemnation of their buildings on Lackawanna Avenue. The SRA on Dec. 14 filed in county court a notice of appeal to Commonwealth Court.
Efforts to reach Mr. Hughes were unsuccessful. SRA Chairman William Lazor declined to comment.
